ABOUT ME

Artist Statement
I am a visual artist working in different mediums. I have been taking photographs since I received my first camera on my 8th birthday (it was a 1960s Kodak Brownie Holiday camera and I loved it!) I have always been interested in landscapes, however, originally I took pictures for fun and later mainly as a reference for painting. Somewhere along the way I started to appreciate the photographs as artwork.
I lived in Nova Scotia by the sea for several years and I took every opportunity to head out in different directions to explore the province and its wonderful beaches. But it was only once I moved away and returned to Nova Scotia on vacation that I started to photograph my favourite beaches, and that capturing waterscapes in general became a serious pursuit. Around the same time I developed an interest in working with resins, originally for my sculpture, and then as a way to do my own photo finishes.
The Beach project has been in the works since I arrived in Ottawa in 2002; it was a way to keep my connection with my maritime experience, and I hope to continue my explorations on this theme with another visit to Nova Scotia soon.
I continue to explore other themes, like Dragonflies and Flowers. I get some of my best images while canoeing and like to go from spring through fall to capture the changing seasons.
As well as the finished pieces on this site, my work is available in a quality print or poster format; and commissions may be considered. I hope you enjoy my work.
